In this freestyle, she was candid about the emotions felt about someone she used to date. She admits that she is obviously triggered by him because the emotions were there. She discusses how she knows he hasn’t treated her right all the time, but she is still in touch with how it is still him.
Most people related to this song because there are a lot of people who go through the same thing and feel the same way. Jhene expresses feelings that we sometimes do not even know how to explain. The slow beat and soft addition of the drums add to the emotion that is supposed to be portrayed through the lyrics.
