Thriving

Mary J. Blige and Nas got together and created a song that oozes power. On May 8th, the two dropped the song titled “Thriving.” 

Thriving is a song all about surviving and thriving. She talks about what she had to overcome and where she is now. In doing so, she also is empowering others. Such as, “Hold my crown up to the sky
Hold your crown up to the sky.” 

The song continues to portray a powerful position with the consistent beat of the drums, the aggressive piano, and the bass to accompany it all.  Those three together, add a feel to the song that makes you feel like you can go a couple rounds with your worst enemy. 

Nas’s verse on the song was a wise idea because the male presence on the track gave it a different flavor. Overall, the song was something that most people need to hear and I thought the two artists did a great job at portraying an empowering message.
